Two in office systems we offer are called Zoom and GLO.  Both systems provide a safe way to give you a whiter smile with just one treatment session.   These in-office procedures are even more dramatic if you combine the with their take-home companion bleaching kits after your initial treatments. How Does In-Office Whitening Work?

In-office whitening treatments utilize a powerful whitening gel that typically contains hydrogen peroxide  The peroxide creates a chemical reaction that breaks up the bonds of carbon that show up as stains on the teeth. Oxygen infiltrates the dentin and enamel of the teeth, eliminating stains that have built up over the years. After just one treatment, you will leave our office with teeth that are no longer stained and may be numerous shades whiter than before. 

How Long Does In-Office Whitening Take?

When you visit us for a custom whitening procedure, you should plan on being with us for at least an hour.  Preparation for the procedure takes about 15 minutes; the bleaching process itself takes another 45 minutes or so, during which you can relax by listening to music or watching television. We highly recommend that you have a full teeth cleaning done before you undergo in-office bleaching.  Most of our patients find they are quite comfortable during the procedure.  However, if you have dental anxiety or a strong gag reflex, let us know so that we can help keep the procedure comfortable for you.

How Long Do Whitening Results Last?

If you follow up your initial in-office whitening procedure with good care at home, your results should last a very long time. Highland Smiles will provide you with recommendations for at-home care to ensure that you enjoy great results for as long as possible. Make sure you come in for routine cleanings and dental examinations twice a year and brush twice and floss each day to ensure that your overall oral health is excellent.
